Can you think of any myths pertaining to dogs?
Here are fifteen myths that I have heard. Can you add a few ?
- Dogs are great judges of a person’s character. If they don’t like someone, it must mean that something is wrong with that person.
- Garlic prevents fleas.
- Dogs eat their own feces because they have a nutritional deficiency.
- Mutts are always healthier than purebred dogs and vice versa.
- Shelter dogs always carry a lot of baggage, so it’s better to buy a puppy and start off fresh.
- Dogs who have a backyard live happier lives than those that live in a condo or apartment.
- Once dogs get a taste of blood, they cannot stop killing.
- Dogs can always smell fear.
- Pit Bulls have special locking jaws.
- Expensive dog food will help your dog to be healthier and live longer.
- German Shepherds will “turn on you.’
- Little dogs are more difficult to potty train because they have tiny bladders.
- Some dogs don’t like black people ( most often heard in the midwest and the south.
- Dogs are pack and den animals.
- Dogs need a strong “Alpha”
- Old or very sick dogs instinctively go onto the woods to die,
- If you allow your dog to sleep with you, or lay on your couch, she’ll think she is equal with you and won’t respect you.
- You must always eat first before feeding your dog. Also, never let your dog walk through the doorway ahead of you. If you do these things they don’t think you are a “good pack leader”
